Arsene Wenger talks about his contract.

Arsene Wenger has gone some way towards pacifying the legions of Arsenal supporters who remain concerned that he has not yet put pen to paper and signed the much talked about extension to his contract.

In an excellent article by Henry Winter in the Telegraph, he has this to say:

"If I was not committed to Arsenal, I would have left already," said Wenger. "I have had many opportunities to go for much more money. I will be here next season. Maybe it's because I am from a different generation but when I give my word it's my word, even if someone comes in tomorrow and gives me five times more money. I would not sign players for three or four years and then run away."

As far as tomorrow's game is concerned, he is similarly positive:

"It is November, too early to say what will happen in the championship. Since I have been in England, I have seen Leicester, Aston Villa and Leeds top of the Premiership in November and none of them have won the title. It's a very open championship. This team have a formidable spirit and that will be seen at the end of the season. We want to show how good we are and playing Manchester United is a good occasion. We are strong enough to win."

Our home form has been shaky this season as we all know, and tomorrow's game will be difficult bearing in mind that Our two senior keepers are both unavailable. Stuart Taylor will get the job tomorrow - let's hope he can deliver a performance reminiscent of Alex Manninger's heroic "understudy" game at Old Trafford in 1998.

More worrying is the continued absence of Tony Adams at the back. Somebody has got to raise their game and marshall the other defenders into some sort of cohesive unit - stand up Sol Campbell.
